Mother Jailed
An unholy alliance of California Child Protective Services (CPS) with a hostile doctor and judge is attempting to railroad Laurie Jessop, framed as a threat to her son and the establishment for finding a way to cure him of malignant melanoma. She is now on trial, under a gag order, since she had gone to the press. When she was arrested, she was put in maximum security, solitary confinement, in the Orange County, CA jail. They claim that everything about. her says anti-Establishment, so she was told, as she was considered a threat in starting a riot.
On the morning of Sept. 12, Gary Null read on KPFK, a Pacifica station in Los Angeles, an e-mail from Ron Miller, who had met Ms. Jessop at the Cancer Control Society annual convention during the Labor Day weekend. They had discussed this persecution by Big Brother in the guise of saving her son from this evil mother who has failed to protect him! She disobeyed doctor’s orders and found a natural way to cure her son. These forces arrayed against her and insisted he must have the cancer removed surgically and attacked with the standard chemical fare. The cancer is gone, but nobody in authority will accept that because her doctor doesn’t believe that’s possible.
The initial biopsy of the mole was done in February. Their regular doctor was on leave when test results came in. A nurse informed them of the bad news. On May 8, Chad Jessop had a follow up appointment with a medical group doctor, by the name of Dr. Masciana, who insisted he needed surgery to excise the site within a week, or he could die any day now! This doctor is a general practitioner, not an oncologist or qualified to do cancer diagnosis or surgery. Chad and his mom decided to pursue holistic treatment for him. Incensed, the doctor reported her to Child Protective Services on the grounds of gross negligent child endangerment. She yelled at Laurie “all of you Jehovah’s Witnesses are all the same,” never mind Laurie and Chad are not Jehovah’s witnesses. Dr. Masciana also told Laurie, with her son present, that his death was imminent. At the close of the appointment, Dr. Masciana informed Laurie that she was referring the case to Social Services. In further investigation, Child Protective Social Services is a misnamed government agency whose employees get paid bonuses every time they take children away from their parents.
That evening Laurie called an attorney who advised her that she had 48 hours or less before Social Services showed up. If she could not prove she was following doctor’s orders, they’d take her son. Since Dr. Masciana had created such a traumatic experience for Chad, he feared the doctors and threatened to run away. In honoring Chad’s wishes for continued holistic care, Laurie took her son to San Diego to continue holistic care using a number of various alternative treatments such as: ozone, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, hydrogen peroxide, energy work, Rife, nutritional supplements, and deep emotional work. Laurie also used “black salve” that she purchased from Canada to remove the mole tissue. Black salve was developed by Native American Indians more than 200 years ago, and used in the treatment of skin lesions, cancers, warts, and moles. Figures our FDA banned it, because it works.
They applied “Black Salve” directly to the area in question, thus giving Chad a holistic version of a large border excision. It took about two and a half weeks for the wound to heal. When it was healed Laurie took Chad to a Del Mar dermatologist for a biopsy. The test results were negative of any signs of melanoma! The next two weeks were concentrated on once again healing the tissue to get another biopsy. Upon the wound site being healed, a melanoma specialist did a punch biopsy and a complete lab analysis on Friday, June 15. Again, no sign of cancer could be found in the biopsy and the blood work was in healthy ranges with no distinguishing markers that would otherwise be present in a patient that would have advanced stage four melanoma, as had been previously reported! Was it a miracle, or an activated immune system in a healthy young man, with some useful help, that healed the melanoma?
The following Monday, June 18th, Laurie and Chad turned themselves in to the San Diego Social Services office, with all of their documentation. They were detained for 4 hours, then told that arrest warrants for Laurie and Chad were issued from Orange County. Chad was locked up at the Palenskie Center in San Diego for one night. He had 2 guards watching him around the clock, since he was considered a flight risk. When Laurie went to visit Chad they could not have any privacy, as both guards listened to every word that was said. Laurie spent over nine thousand bucks in San Diego for the treatments done over the five week period of time, and has all the receipts as proof. A new social worker, David Harper, was put on the case. He picked Chad up in San Diego transporting him to Orangewood Children’s Home in Orange County for the next two weeks, where he got fed spaghetti and meat balls, food not fitting one healing from cancer. One aspect of Chad’s treatment was a healthy diet of living foods, but Ms. Jessop’s requests of this social worker that Chad get proper food fell on deaf ears. He did tell her she was allowed to see her daughter graduate from Junior High School. She told him nobody could keep her away without a court order, and that she would be there! The social worker informed Laurie that he completed the paper work to lift the warrant order on her.
After her daughter’s graduation, on June 21st Laurie went to make academic arrangements for her son, having missed five weeks of school. Laurie showed the documentation to the principal and vice principal. The Vice Principal knew Chad well, as Chad did his Eagle Scout project for him at the high school. Chad is now an advanced Eagle Scout. No matter, the VP called police to arrest Laurie at the school and haul her off to the county jail. The arresting deputy harassed her. When Laurie protested, the officer told her she didn’t have to like her or be nice to her. After arriving at the county jail, her first telephone call had been to the social worker, David Harper, although he did nothing to get her out of jail, nor was he willing to help correct the record. Laurie was physically abused, they spread her legs twisting her knee, when she complained they called out “Resisting…Resisting” then they pushed her violently to a cell wall (behind the cameras) causing her to twist her neck, shoulder and arm. After being worked over, they took away her jacket, shoes, socks, and toilet paper, and locked her up. Her holding cell was extremely cold and she was deliberately denied toilet paper. She asked for toilet paper, only to be answered it must have been taken for good reason and she was not getting any. She was denied toilet paper from approximately 3:30pm until 11:00pm. One has to wonder, what was she going to do with the toilet paper, hang herself? By 11:00 pm Laurie got taken to be assessed. She asked “is this a madhouse run by animals, who is running this place?” Laurie told this officer her story for half an hour. He let her talk, then said he sees all kinds of characters, his job is to ascertain threats. He told her she has the fire, the spirit and the power to overturn the system and create a riot. He informed her she’d be put in solitary confinement, but she might get a roommate, probably a drug offender. She was forced to take a chest X-ray against her will, without any explanation and ridicule from the officers. Laurie and her two children have never been in any type of trouble with the law, but were treated like hardened criminals. She was shocked to learn women taking showers have no privacy, that male guards are watching. The next night she got a 58-year old roommate charged with kidnapping her children from her husband 20 years ago, after being extradited from Tennessee on outdated bogus charges tagged with 200 thousand bail. It would appear that Orange County is desperately trying to maintain job security at the expense of the innocent!
Laurie was released on the streets of Santa Ana after midnight, in an unsafe area of Southern California for a woman, after five days of incarceration. Upon Laurie’s arrest, officers impounded her van and turned it upside down looking for drugs. She had to pay over 300 dollars in impound fees to get the van back.
Social Services approved the foster families that Laurie had arranged for Chad and Crystal. Now Laurie is on trial, forbidden to speak under a gag order, by the very judge that had issued the bench warrant for her arrest, because she refused to go along with orthodox medicine. The dermatologist, appointed by Social Services, testified in court that the melanoma is playing hide and go seek, that they’d have to subject Chad to unnecessary and dangerous further biopsies and medical procedures to find where it migrated to. The dermatologist further stated that the melanoma had become even more deadly, claiming it has now traveled to different organs. The prescription for surgery is a large border excision to the skullbone. Chad says he is old enough to defend this country’s freedoms, but he is denied that same freedom of choice when it comes to his own health and he is also under gag order. Ms. Jessop intends to sue anyone who touches her son against their wishes. All Chad’s blood tests are consistent with a healthy 17 year old 6′2″ young man. They refuse to tolerate anyone trying to clear their conscience at his expense. Laurie says her record stands, she will not back down, and she wants parents to know they do not have to be intimidated by this system! The judge has stated twice that she doesn’t want Chad to die while she is on the bench; which sounds like she has bias in the case! Surgery and chemotherapy had been intended for the following week. The doctor is still of the mind Chad could die any day now. When giving testimony, the dermatologist was asked if he could perform surgery on Chad, knowing that Chad would not cooperate with any Western medical butchery. His answer was emphatic No, he could not perform an operation on anyone against their will.
What Big Brother has been doing to Ms. Jessop and her children is unconscionable, beyond outrageous, a gross miscarriage of justice and an abuse of authority. Many families have been torn apart by lesser abuses of CPS and modern medicine. The Jessop family is very united and strong in their convictions, very aware of their constitutional rights, and will not give up to our corrupt system. Being a single parent for the last 11 years, Laurie has done herself proud raising her children and is extremely close to both of them. Laurie and her children have stood the test and this hellish ordeal has brought them closer together as a family. She said at the press conference, “I am a mama bear and no one is messing with my cubs!”
Laurie’s deadbeat ex-husband, Marcus, has never voluntarily paid for child support or any of the children’s medical bills, even though he is legally bound to pay for half according to their divorce agreement. She has had to drag him into court to get a judgment and garnish his wages in order to collect on past due medical bills. It so happens Marcus is in agreement with the state, he wants his son, (having had no contact for the last 10 years) to be butchered and drugged to eliminate this incredible cancer, that refuses to carry out its death sentence and is too clever to show up on tests. Marcus is in court with his own public defender, pushing for this even though he has no legal or physical custody, not even any visitation rights. If he was in agreement with Laurie’s medical beliefs, this court probably wouldn’t allow him in the courtroom. Our tax dollars, hard at work!
In the state of Virginia, a brilliant 17 year old young man went through a very similar ordeal, but won his battle with CPS. Once his case was over, he was instrumental in passing a new law in the state of Virginia. Abraham’s Law, that gives a minor the right to make their own medical decisions when they are bright and understand their choices. Laurie wants to get her story out and push through a similar bill in California, called “Chad’s Law,” so that other families do not have to go through the abusive nature of a department that is supposed to be protecting our children. As “Roy of Hollywood” stated on KPFK recently, who is protecting us from the Child Protective Social Services Department? Pushing through a bill like this may be very expensive, but once Laurie makes up her mind that she is doing something, she is all steel, determined, and will persevere to find a way to make this happen. If you can help her in any way, please contact me via e-mail.
Orthodox medicine is unwilling to admit it does not know everything, and it hates competition. Its methods of treating cancer are not the only ways that can work. Ms. Jessop believed she could find another way, and her son, given a diagnosis of imminent death, is now free of cancer. Never mind, the doctor is sure it’s still there, so Big Brother intends to make an example of her as an unfit mother for disobeying her doctor, putting her son in mortal danger. That’s not happening, but truth often doesn’t matter to Big Brother, as is apparent in most government policy. If Chad were actually endangered by not getting conventional treatment, the authorities might have a leg to stand on, but in this case, it’s not his mother putting him in jeopardy, it’s the system! The doctor has egg on her face, because she was sure Chad would die quickly without aggressive conventional treatment, and she has been proven wrong! Instead of learning from her error, she wants to make Ms. Jessop and her son pay for showing her up!
I’m helping her get her story out. One newspaper did a story, but in general, very little has been reported so far. I tried to find the story online, but no luck. A press conference was held on Sept. 6th, just before court. Two of the major TV news stations and one of the largest AM radio all news stations showed up. KFWB radio ran the story immediately that day. As soon as court started the judge announced that there was a gag order on this case and threatened jail time and contempt of court to anyone (including the minor in question), that spoke to the press or anyone else for that matter. One of the TV news stations didn’t want to run the story without interviewing Chad and getting his viewpoints. The judge denied a continuance six different times, ignoring all six times valid reasons for the requests. The judge also denied Laurie the right to hire her own attorney! She retained a law firm with her own money, but the judge insisted she has to keep her Public Defender, presumably as a public servant easier to control than a private attorney not so dependent on the system.
If anyone reading this wants to help get the story out, feel free to blog away. I could give out phone numbers for Ms. Jessop or Mr. Miller if you send me a note at alexwren@pacbell.net This blog is angryscientist.wordpress.com. Laurie can’t risk violating the gag order, but she’d appreciate your prayers and support in her very difficult time of fighting our corrupt system in order to keep her family together. Thanks for taking the time to read this long story. Now that you know what sort of injustice masquerades as protecting children, you can do something to help wake up sleepwalking friends and neighbors, trusting “The System” to know what’s best for the children, and adults too.

Ingrid Naiman

I am not a physician. I am what might be called a medical philosopher and counselor. My interest in holistic medicine began less as a rejection of allopathic medicine than a deep yearning for harmlessness, wholesomeness, and harmony. As time went on, I did become concerned that material medicine tends to ignore the issues faced by the person who is sick and suffering—and I did, in fact, reach the point in my own personal life that I was no longer interested in the technical prowess that operates at the expense of the larger picture. I have often asked myself what I would do if I were the patient rather than the person patients consult when they are ill. My first answer has usually been, "I would sit under a tree."Over the years, there have been those who understood me perfectly and those who did not. Many patients said, "You'd do nothing!" My response is that sitting under a tree is not doing nothing. It is an admission that when we are lost, there is no point in going forward.
When faced with a critical illness, there is a red flag on the game of life. We know that if we continue as if all were fine, the patterns that led to our crisis will go unchecked. The outcome, in such instances, would probably be death. So, I would sit under a tree until I came to know what my life is all about. A few patients have immediately understood that this is the study undertaken while sitting.
Trees are wonderful companions. They tend to encourage us to look up into the Sky and down into the Earth, to appreciate the wind and the rain and to forge a feeling of being connected, of being one with life. While we have much to learn from trees, life is actually about living our Creator's Plan, and since this is something we probably did not learn in school, we often have to set aside time for the lesson later in life—when the stakes are high.
My Education
I have some academic credentials, but to me they are not very meaningful. I majored in Asian Studies at the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii. At that time, I was, as now, interested in philosophy and in cultures different from my own; but the most important experience of my entire undergraduate days was a brief acquaintance with the famous Suzuki-sensei who taught me to recognize my own mind, where it was focused, and how that affected my concentration and awareness.
I went on to graduate school at Yale University, left with a master's degree before my right brain was permanently damaged by studies that to me seemed deeply separated from reality. The obsession with this schism became, over the decades since Yale, a major source of disquiet for me as I could see how the heart and soul are often as not left out of the major activities of our lives. How we make our livings, how we prioritize our spare time, and even how we relate to the important others in our lives are often viewed as separate from what feels good and even relevant.
Knowledge versus Knowing
In my book, I refer to this as the tyranny of "mind over matter," and I suspect it operates against genuine healing. We are led to believe that we ought to appreciate treatments that are painful, that cause us to vomit, and that make our hair fall out because they are destroying a life threatening growth. Numbed into submission by fear and arguments—and coerced into treatments that torture the body more than the illness itself—we ignore our deeper and truer selves. The loss of personal integrity that attends such denial of one half of our being is important and, in my opinion, often more life threatening than cancer.
I have sometimes remarked to patients that we do not really know anything about life and death. The soul creates life, and the soul takes it away. I therefore try, in my consultations, to awaken a sense of who this soul is. My idea is that if I can facilitate an awareness similar to that reported by people who have had near death experiences, the patient will heal naturally without dependency on modalities that hurt and maim. If I were wrong about this, there would be no cases of spontaneous remission to challenge skeptics. The question is simply: Can such experiences be safely generated on a large scale or are they always highly individualistic? They are, of course, as unique as the persons who have them, but they touch the hearts and lives of people in all nations and of all walks of life. They are therefore as universal as the sun and stars.
I went on to create an entire system of healing, based in part on astrology but also on the more esoteric components of our psyche. In 1987, I was awarded a doctorate of medicine in Copenhagen (from Medicina Alternativa). Grateful for the acknowledgment, I accepted the degree but am quick to point out that I did not attend medical school. The award was based on my contributions to the broader field of healing, not mastery of a conventional curriculum. In 1995, I was awarded a second doctorate for my work on escharotic treatments of cancer. This award was given by the Open International University in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Again, I felt honored by the recognition, a doctorate of science, despite the fact that I consider myself to be more a mystic than a scientist. For me, the book has been more of an ethnobotanical study than a medical study. I was intrigued by the history of medicine, by the suppression of botanical medicine, first by the Inquisition and later by people whose minds are closed because of their "science." I was heartened by the fact that an isolated individual, such as Constantine Rafinesque, spent years with medicine men of the Bayou when fashion would have dictated that he spend his time otherwise.
I was even more deeply touched that a people so persecuted and mistreated by invaders from the other side of the Atlantic gave to those same colonists the keys to survival. I have never seen such an injustice repaid with such generosity, and it is for such reasons that I have been unable to be silent about a treatment that offers so much for so many .
Black Salve Ointment
Black Salve Blog
It's been a LONG time since I've posted and I apologize. I used a black salve cream for 3 skin cancers (over a period of 3 years) basal cell and squamous cell. Not ONE has come back. Sadly when I had surgery TWICE before, the cancer returned within a year.
This is the product that the pharmaceuticals DO NOT want you to know about...I SWEAR!!! They have raided almost all companies who sell it, and try to shut them down because it WORKS!
After reading a book on how cancer treatments are being hushed and witheld from us, my eyes were opened. I had no idea how the pharmaceuticals work with the FDA to HIDE possible cancer cures from the public. Why? GREED?
You will NEVER find the black salve approved by the FDA. Why? The herbs are so cheap to make and copy, that the competition would be way too much for the money hungry( Big Pharma) and could put many out of business, cutting in to the pockets of the filthy rich!
Did you know that it costs around 500 MILLION to get a product approved by the FDA, and the studies are done by those they choose. So how do these small companies stand a chance?
I read that the US has around a 3% cancer cure rate overall. That means that our current treatments will give people a 97% death sentence ie, chemotherapy overall.
There are so many natural/alternative treatments that have helped thousands with cancer. For example, the Gerson therapy is being raved about by everyone lately and thousands who are being given 6 months to live are cancer free!
Anyway, this black salve stuff is awesome for skin cancer and for checking suspicious lesions, moles, etc. I know someone who has been using black salve for over 20 years and not ONE cancer has returned. I have tried several brands but only a couple that have worked and that I trust. The black salve attacks abnormal cells and leaves healthy cells alone for just about everyone. I am sure there are exceptions. I put it on all suspicious lesions and so far only 3 on my face that were diagnosed as basal cell, and one possible squamous cell that reacted. The other moles that I have did not react at all. When you put it on, it will burn if there are unhealthy cells ie cancer. And if there are not any, you will just get a mild redness or nothing at all will happen at all.
After a few days, it will form a scab and within about 15 days my cancer came out. I then had a clean wound that began to heal. No infection has ever been reported with it that I know of, and I emailed over 30 people who have used black salve( who left their emails on forums). NOT one had one thing negative to say. I have heard it has around a 97.9- 98% cure rate.
It does burn a bit, but I REFUSE to let surgeons slash my face anymore... ESPECIALLY when it did NO good but give me a higher risk for spreading the cancer.
Many are saying now that each time you get a biopsy, you may be risking the spreading of cells.
If you guys want to get a video on how people have removed cancerous breast tumors and skin cancers with this stuff, go to simpledefeat.com and look at the tumorx dvd's. You will not believe your eyes! I didn't use the tumorx. I used the cansema, but they both have similar ingredients.
I know people who have put this stuff on herpes and one even on genital warts...OUCH... and they swear by it. They said this was the only thing that made the herpes not come back. I have not tried it as I don't have herpes, thank goodness, but thought it was interesting that it worked for them. I asked the manufacturers who sell black salve and they said they can not recommend it for herpes or genital warts. In fact, if one thinks they have cancer they should get checked by their doctor first to verify it is cancer. And then follow up once the cancer falls out to make sure it's all gone. Melanoma is nothing to mess around with. This will work on Melanoma as well, from several I have spoken to. I know people who have melanoma who had surgery first and then used the salve. Guess what?? The salve found areas that the surgeon missed. But if you use the salve first, you should then follow up with your doctor to make sure it's all gone. Melanoma can kill you within 5 years diagnosis, so don't wait. You want that monster out of your body!
Anyway, amazing product and I am glad I tried it.

Half of all men and one-third of all women in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes. Today, millions of people are living with cancer or have had cancer. The risk of developing most types of cancer can be reduced by changes in a person's lifestyle, for example, by quitting smoking and eating a better diet. The sooner a cancer is found and treatment begins, the better are the chances for living for many years. - American Cancer Society
Although the American Cancer Society and many other orthodox medically endorsed organizations state that prevention of cancer is dependent on diet and lifestyle choices, they do nothing to help people take the next step toward such practices! Instead, We The People, are generally left with the following failed methods:
One of my main purposes in blogging this is to alarm people into getting suspicious moles checked out by a doctor immediately. If you are even remotely concerned about anything on your skin, please make an appointment with a doctor today. You definitely won't regret it. And remember that there is still a very good chance that I will recover from this. Melanoma is bad news, but it is not a death sentence. (Update: my case is currently in a partial remission.) (Update: no, actually it's not.) I have a strong feeling that this will be a monumental hassle but that I'll make it through in the end. Either way, though, I want to make as much noise about the experience as possible so that others can learn from my mistakes. I'll start biochemotherapy on 11/18/04, one month and three days after my initial doctor visit. This has been a really rough month, but I think I've cleared a number of major hurdles. Biochemotherapy consists of a continuous flow of interleukin-2, a daily injection of vinblastine, a daily IV of cisplatin, a single injection of alpha interferon, and a single IV of dacarbazine. The process takes five days in the hospital, with a 16-day recovery period at home. The general side effects are basically flu-like. I'm thinking that as long as we're going to conduct biological and chemical warfare in my bloodstream, we might as well drop a few nukes for good measure. At least it would get rid of the tumors, and I bet they wouldn't come back.
(12/17/04) I got a payment statement from my insurance (Blue Cross) yesterday. Apparently a round of chemotherapy goes for $40,000. Absolutely crazy. Thankfully, insurance is covering everything. My situation would be much different if I didn't have health coverage. So, all the places that bug me: the inflamed lymph node in my neck, the above-mentioned crater in my back, the incision in my left armpit from the lymph node biopsy, the place where the IV port reaches my jugular vein (the tube is visible under the skin), the blob that is the IV port, and the incision from where it was inserted. A few more incisions and I'll look like a Reaver from Firefly. I have scans on the 28th. These will provide our first indication of whether chemotherapy is working. I'm more than a little nervous about them. Given that I have a PET, MRI, and CT scan on the same day, I'll probably be glowing with radioactive tracer for a while. That could be interesting. As usual, I'll try to obtain the radiology reports and post them here. Hopefully I can snag another full color PET scan image. Scans are painless, except for the tracer injections and the really bad taste of the CT scan contrast dye. Nonetheless it'll be a really long day. I bet my insurance company hates this particular treatment program. That's easily $7000 of scans in one go. Let me offer my condensed summary of cancer. Maybe they could print it on a little card and distribute it in lieu of the sappy brochures:
Congratulations, you have cancer! Your life is about to turn upside down. It causes a lot of stress, and many patients crash and burn horribly. Chemotherapy can save your life, but in the process it'll make you feel like you've been run over by a Hummer. Alternately, your doctors may choose to irradiate you in one of several ways, which is not altogether unlike being shoved into a microwave oven on "high" for a few minutes. Your medications probably won't make you feel better, so do yourself a favor and buy some weed. Get used to needles; you're going to be poked with a lot of them. Be strong, and you might live. Good luck!
You see, that would have actually been a *useful* description when I was first getting started.
(1/16/05)Be it decreed: I shall have no more Reglan or Benadryl. Nausea, I can deal with; nearly suicidal depression and restlessness, absolutely not.
(1/19/05) I'm going in for round four tomorrow. This could possibly be the last round. I suspect I'll end up with six rounds, but it would be nice if this took care of everything. (**editors note, do the math at $40k a round, not including all the additional cost of scans!) I'm in the process of filing for disability coverage. I found out that my health care benefits expire at the end of March, so I'll probably have to get an extension under COBRA. That will be expensive, but much less expensive than paying everything out of pocket.
(2/10/05) The last two rounds of chemo didn't have much of an effect on the tumors, but they do appear to be stable (i.e., not growing or spreading). Since chemo seems to be having a diminishing effect, I'm not going to do any more rounds. Instead, I'm moving on to the "maintenance" program, which should hopefully keep the tumors stable and possibly shrink them over time. Maintenance is similar to chemo, but without the really evil drugs. Each round is a two night hospital stay. Most people recover very quickly (a day at most). I'll do one round a month for the first six months, and then one round every six months indefinitely (or at least until they come up with some miracle cure for melanoma). The downside is that the tumors are still there. There is a small tumor in my liver, and there are scattered nodules in my lungs. I still have two inflamed lymph nodes. None of the tumors are large enough to pose a threat, as long as they don't grow.
(2/14/05) Woohoo! Money, money, money! I just got my SDI (state disability insurance) checks in the mail. Activision stopped paying me as of January 1st, and I've been coasting since then. I was a little late in sending off the paperwork, so the state's turnaround time actually wasn't bad at all. California has a mandatory disability insurance program, funded by payroll deductions (so if you do have to use it, you're definitely entitled to it). It pays a percentage of your salary (60% I think) for up to a year if you become disabled. You just have to fill out a form and have your doctor provide an explanation. It was less of a hassle than I expected. One caveat is that SDI doesn't deduct taxes from its checks. I'll have to remember that when I fill out my tax return; I may end up owing additional taxes. I plan to return to work on the 16th (this Wednesday).
(3/10/05) I had a routine appointment with Dr. XXXXXXX yesterday. No news, but I wasn't expecting any. As usual, everyone was upbeat and encouraging. I'm still mystified by the fact that they have never suggested ways to improve my diet or lifestyle for fighting cancer. It is obvious that certain foods have an effect on the immune system, and that my long term survival depends on maintaining a strong immune system. Given that my immune system is basically at an equilibrium with the cancer, even small improvements could be very helpful. Some facts I came across: The insulin released when you consume sugar (especially refined white sugar) suppresses the immune system. Some claim that the effect is rather strong. Cannibinoids (marijuana, Marinol) are immunosuppressants. Partially hydrogenated oils (evil for many reasons, but oh so common) suppress the creation of NK cells (natural killers, a type of white blood cell). Tumors consume large amounts of glucose, at a rate much faster than normal cells. Reducing the glucose in your diet can slow down tumor growth. Not all sugars are the same in this regard. So I've stopped drinking soda. It's a good riddance anyway; I'd be healthier for it even if I didn't have cancer.
(4/27/05) I had scans yesterday. They didn't go well. There was overall disease progression. Two or three new lymph nodes are involved, the main lung tumor has grown, and there's a subcutaneous tumor on my left arm. It may have spread to my left scapula. But most importantly, there is a metastasis in my brain. I'm going to have that removed with a gamma knife at USC this weekend. The procedure is fairly safe and does not require any incisions. Dr. XXXXXXXX said this is a fairly common situation and doesn't seem overly concerned about it, other than the need to get it out of there immediately. Interleukin-2 is not working. I'm moving to a different treatment. We are considering several options. One possibility is a form of Taxol, a common breast cancer chemotherapy. Dr. XXXXXXXX said I should also check to see what MD Anderson, a respected cancer center in Texas, has to offer. There is still potential for keeping this under control. I'm not sure what the long-term prospects are, but there is absolutely no point in worrying about that. Stress just weakens the immune system.
(5/5/05) The brain tumor is now an ex-tumor. I had gamma knife radiosurgery at USC. It went very well. I arrived at 6 AM and was on the way home before noon. My forehead is sore from the titanium head frame (held in place by pointed bolts), but I'd rather deal with that than have the radiation miss the intended target. The tumor was small, and we expect the gamma knife to have completely obliterated it without significant collateral damage to the surrounding area. It should dissolve over the next few months. I'll have another MRI scan in six weeks.
(5/7/05) I had some strange visual artifacts yesterday. Occasionally images would pop out at me, triggered by whatever I was looking at. It felt as though the pattern recognition part of my brain was overstimulated. My actual field of view was not distorted at all, though. I wouldn't call them hallucinations.
(5/12/05) My shoulder has continued to be annoying. I'm out of Vicodin. I'm going to see about getting more. It's no real surprise that it's hurting, and I don't think it's an immediately dangerous problem, but it's still very bothersome. Sandy suggested that I switch to OxyContin (oxycodone) rather than taking Vicodin for an extended period of time, so I picked up a prescription for it today. It's a very potent narcotic analgesic much like Vicodin, but given in a slow-release tablet that lasts twelve hours. It should be about as effective as Vicodin once it kicks in. The advantage is that it provides continuous pain relief without the ups and downs associated with short-acting drugs like Vicodin. I'm starting with a relatively low dose of OxyContin. We'll increase it if necessary. OxyContin is one of the most widely abused prescription drugs. People sometimes defeat the time release mechanism by crushing the tablets, resulting in a sudden rush of oxycodone. Needless to say, that's a bad idea. I start a clinical trial of a Mederex monoclonal antibody next Thursday, June 3rd. We have high hopes for this. I know a lot of people have been praying for me, which I very much appreciate. This would be a very good time to continue doing so!
(6/5/05) I had the first round of the monoclonal antibody clinical trial on Thursday. It's hard to know if I'm feeling any side effects from it; I've been rather lethargic for the past few days, but that's also caused by OxyContin. The treatment itself was very easy; four subcutaneous shots in my legs and one 90 minute IV. I dozed off for most of it. Today I picked up some lidocaine spray to deal with an annoying subcutaneous tumor that's been hurting lately. It was tempting to instead pick up some hydrochloric acid spray and make the tumor cease to exist, but I don't think that would help the pain much.
(7/10/05) So many herbal and dietary supplements, so hard to know which ones are worth anything. I'm currently taking several: Bromelain, a pineapple stem extract that has been shown to have significant anticancerous properties, Artemisinin, a wormwood extract that reacts with iron, which is found in greater concentrations in cancerous cells, and Amygdalin, otherwise known as Vitamin B17, which the FDA raised quite a stink about a few years ago and made very hard to obtain. I also occasionally take Greens+ at the strong suggestion of a friend, but the pills are large and annoying, so I'm lazy about it. At a reader's suggestion, I'm thinking of adding Graviola to the list. These may be worthless, or they may help. I suspect they'll help a little. They are far less toxic than any of the other drugs I've taken throughout this treatment, and as such there is really no reason not to try them. I have to be careful with Amygdalin and Artemisinin, which can be harmful in high doses, but then again so can anything.
(8/11/05) Long overdue for an update. I had the final Medarex clinical trial treatment last Wednesday. It went about as expected (this was the fourth one, so it's kind of a routine). My blood hemoglobin had dropped so low that I received a two unit blood transfusion on Friday. I think this gave me a little more energy (at least it got rid of any anemia I may have had), but I'm still feeling very tired. Generally good, just tired. I go in for scans next week, but I don't think the results will be interesting. There may be some new tumors and some of them may be swollen. We can tell that much just from the outside. We are still highly encouraged by the swelling and puffiness surrounding many of my subcutaneous tumors. Where to from here? Who knows. Perhaps we'll wait a while and see how the swelling progresses. Ideally, of course, the cancer would eat itself alive and never come back. Nothing wrong with wishful thinking.

It's time to take health care decisionsinto our own, EDUCATED, hands!!!!!!
The following letter was written some time ago from a formulator of black salve products:
Our products are made from the best wild crafted plants and minerals that can be found anywhere on earth. You will find that the total ingredients needed to make our full line of products required the collecting of plant material from every warm climate continent on earth. We believe, that in order to have the best health products on this earth you have to go to the 4 corners of the earth and collectthem. This is exactly what we have done! The choosing of which plants and minerals to use in our formulas focused mainly around time proven plants that have survived with empirical evidence and are known as the best treatments or cures in the day's of old and still preferred in today's new natural salves and creams.
As world expeditions expanded and communication technology's linked the world together, other continents cultural treatments and cures became known to new parts of the world.
The secret to making all of our products is this; we use combinations of totally different plants from around the world and each single plant on there own have been undeniably successful in treating or curing the same single body medical condition. A great example of combining the ELITE KINGS of the plant world into a single product is our black salves for skin moles, skin tags, warts, and skin cancers. All of these salves have varying degrees of the same plants and minerals only because there are no other known plants, in our opinion, that can out perform these wonderful God given plants.
As with any product, the product is only as good as it's individual parts. Let's look at our formulas chosen components with a short plant by plant profile and why we chose them.
Bloodroot: chosen because it is fast acting, strong and powerful and can be used on a wide array of skin problems. It is a non-discriminating killer of abnormal cell clusters of almost any kind of abnormality. If a small opening or space in the skin exists like in the abnormal tissue growth cell spacing found in skin cancers, the bloodroot will enter that open area and will kill all foreign or abnormal tissue.
Burdock Root: When applied externally as a poultice, the leaves are highly resolvent for tumors and gouty swellings, and relieve bruises and inflamed surfaces generally. The bruised leaves have been applied by the peasantry in many countries as cataplasms to the feet and as a remedy for hysterical disorders. From the seeds, both a medicinal tincture and a fluid extract are prepared, of benefit in chronic skin diseases. Americans use the seeds only, considering them more efficacious and prompt in their action than the other parts of the plant. They are relaxant and demulcent, with a limited amount of tonic property. Their influence upon the skin is due largely to their being of such an oily nature: they affect both the sebaceous and sudoriferous glands, and probably owing to their oily nature restore that smoothness to the skin which is a sign of normal healthy action.
Graviola: All parts of the Graviola tree are used in natural medicine in the tropics including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds. Different properties and uses are attributed to the different parts of the tree. Generally the fruit and fruit juice is taken for worms and parasites, to cool fevers, to increase mother's milk after childbirth (lactagogue), and as an astringent for diarrhea and dysentery. The crushed seeds are used as a vermifuge and anthelmintic against internal and external parasites and worms. The bark, leaves and roots are considered sedative, antispasmodic, hypotensive and nervine and a tea is made for various disorders for those purposes. Graviola has a long rich history of use in herbal medicine as well as a long recorded indigenous use. In the Peruvian Andes, a leaf tea is used for catarrh and the crushed seed is used to kill parasites In the Peruvian Amazon the bark roots and leaves are used for diabetes and as a sedative and antispasmodic. Indigenous tribes in Guyana use a leaf and/or bark tea of Graviola as a sedative and heart tonic. In the Brazilian Amazon, a leaf tea is used for liver problems and the oil of the leaves and unripe fruit is mixed with olive oil and used externally for neuralgia, rheumatism and arthritis pain. In Jamaica, Haiti and the West Indies, the fruit and/or fruit juice is used for fevers, parasites, as a lactagogue, and diarrhea; and the bark or leaves are used as an antispasmodic, sedative, and nervine for heart conditions, coughs, grippe, difficult childbirth, asthma, asthenia, hypertension and parasites
Chaparral: Old folk lore claim that chaparral drowns the cancer by holding the cancer under it's oil and takes "Mr. cancer's" air away until he is dead. This is because fresh chaparral oil will enter the skin and stay visible like a glue but lays even or flat with the skin. The long staying power of this fight to the end ninja warrior plant is one of my favorite and is used in my cold sore creams as well. Chaparral is the perfect working base to use as the binder for all of these cancer killers in our formulas. The major lignan in chaparral, known as nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) is a potent antioxidant and was thought by some scientists to be a potential cancer treatment. In a rat study, NDGA and a leaf extract of a South American subspecies of chaparral were found to exert an antitumor effect. Other reported effects for chaparral include anti-inflammatory properties as well as antimicrobial actions in test tubes. These actions have note been established in human clinical trials.
Let's take a look at our strongest Black Salve formula, for skin cancer. Our company's master blenders of these black salves uses no fillers of any kind. The goal is to blend each formula in such a way that only the pure cancer killing product comes in contact with every possible skin cancer surface area.
Our formulation requires that the salve components be high speed blended, focusing on centrifuging the individual pieces of plant matter into the smallest possible sizes. We next age the salve in glass vials which are air tight. The sun aging of the salves for 30 days heats and cools the plant matter in the glass vials daily, forcing the salve to once again reduce the size of the plant material by naturally shrinking and then swelling, while under pressure. This cures the salve into the best salve that can be made by any one. The final preparation is to take the sun cured salve and high speed blend it once again into the final finished salve product.
To see the salve in it's final stage, you can clearly understand the quality of the preparation in the smooth creamy texture of the black salve. You can be assured that our finest blended salves give you a higher likely hood that the total plant mixture of products are more evenly spaced on the surface of the skin cancer when compared with similar products. `A supreme quality salve is not created by superior blending alone. The ingredients chosen determine the capability of the salve. The formulating of our skin cancer black salves is based on the reasoning that multiple plants working together will over whelm the skin cancers cells ability to live or continue to grow.
The combined oils in our product from each plant is now simultaneously attacking the cancer cells. The combining of the worlds best cancer killing plants and minerals into a single product, produces a cocktail of death to the skin cancer cell cluster and is more than 90% successful in completely removing the skin cancer from the body!
A very big thing to remember here is that under the skin, no person of any practice of medical skills is, capable of visually determining the good healthy tissue from the cancer cell clusters. In the removal and radiation cancer treatments, a few things are certain:
First fact, more healthy tissue around the suspected cancer area will be lost to knife removal than you will have with cancer killing plants. What happens if they do not cut all of the cancer cells out of the body and the dreaded chemo misses a single cell?
The truthful answer; that cancer cell that was not killed, will proceed with it's normal genetic code and keep growing. The single cancer cell may go dormant for a while or it could immediately begin to grow at it's maximum growth speed. The chemo you just used tried to kill the good components of the immune system cells too. Killing off of the good immune system cells will allow the superior in physical strength cancer cells that survived, to simply run rampant in the now undefended body.
The root of a skin cancer cell cluster is what is most commonly thought to be the cause of the recurrence of the cancer and only your body's immune system will determine when the cancer root will return! On large skin cancers when the outer surfaces of the cancer rips or pulls apart from the smaller surface part or the tail of the cancer, it will leave a brain looking tissue in the bottom of the cancer surface. When you see this brain looking tissue you must reapply to the strange looking tissue in the open cancer scar hole, one more coating of the black salve. This will kill the remaining cancer in most cases but in some cases you may have to keep going deeper with the salve when you still see the strange looking tissue in the bottom of the cancers hole.
On small skin cancers usually one to three treatments will fully remove the skin cancer and this accounts for around 90% of the skin cancers that we are aware of.
The second facts about chemo is, you lose your sense of smell and taste, some times for life. This occurs due to the destruction of zinc stores in the body from the chemo.
The third fact is, in a child, chemo will stop the bone growth in the child, affecting the child's physical growth.
Even as a master blender and a certified horticulturist I still can understand why a person who is new to the study of holistic medicine would doubt that plants can heal the body like nothing made by man can.
I understand because this is what I thought myself at first, I felt it just could not be true or every one would know of these plants! When I first heard of old cancer killing recipes made from plants and minerals, I felt it could not be true. For if it was so, our government would force the whole nation to take these plants, like I remembered standing in line to be vaccinated as a child.
Because of a loved one in my family that had developed skin cancer, I studied old formulas where ever I could find them and made a formula that worked and has worked on every person that I have seen it applied to. Our products were all made the best way possible, because they first were all needed and used by someone that I loved in my family. There is not one thing I would change in making the product you will receive than the product that any of my family would receive!
The products are made the best way we know how. If it can be made better, please contact and teach us something old that you know and let us make it new again for this and future generations. Be assured that our products are the best when compared to any holistic manufactures product in the world. We could be copied but never out performed.
Detecting Skin Cancers
Quite often people will use the black salve and get a great result, and out of concern for other possible skin cancers, they will smear the salve in large areas of the body to see if they have an immune response. This is not advisable, as the salve should only be used on 1-2 inch squares of the skin because of its potency. We have had reports from patients who have tried a new body wash that is very effective in detecting spots where cancers and other skin abnormalities are hiding in the skin.
The product is called the "Total Body Wash" from Best On Earth Products the makers of the black salve we use, and it is spread all over the skin during the normal bathing process. There is also a shampoo which does the same thing for the scalp. From what people are saying, sometime after using the wash, little black spots and sometimes red patches will develop on the surface of the skin after using the body wash. This is a way to do what is called "spot hunting".
When you see a spot arise after using the wash for a few weeks, then you can put some black salve directly on that spot and see what happens. Typically you will see the same eschar response on such spots. This really helps to get specific with identifying where another abnormal tissue may be so you can eliminate it. The Total Body Wash has also been reported to help tremendously with eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It is formulated with the same herbs as the salves only with less potency and some light modifications to help the skin itself. Happy spot hunting, and if you use any black salve products please let us know your experience with them so we may add to our testimonials so that other seekers of black salves may be encouraged! UPDATE
I felt it was important to share with you all my experience with a black salve body wash. The following text is from a couple of emails I wrote to a person who had questions about the body wash.
I am hearing from many people that this Total Care Body Wash shows where other skin abnormalities/cancers are, as well as it helps with scars, especially from burns.
I started using it about 6 months ago and actually had a spot that looked like a plantar wart come to the surface of my skin on my chest, just under my right clavicle. It was about the size and shape of an eraser head of a pencil. This was about 3-4 months ago. After a week it dried up and disappeared. I was amazed. There is no mark left at all.
I will tell you a little more about the body wash, just recently, I had a flat mole actually come to the surface that was never there before. It was on my back left lat, and it was a dark pink color. I started really concentrating the wash on that spot for the last week and now it is totally drying up. I really think this is the most amazing formulation ever produced.
I have often found that if you are working on a specific mole or wart, that it is helpful to "rough it up" so to speak. You don't have to cut into it, but take a brand new, clean emery board and very lightly pull it across the spot, just enough so that it would cause tiny little spots of the skin in the area to be scraped, almost microscopic though, you don't need to make it bleed. .
Remember, if you don't have any big ones, I would start by using the body wash for a few months to see what develops. If a spot develops that does not disappear with in 30-90 days you will want to apply black salve to it. Bloodroot will work for non-cancerous moles, warts, and skin tags, but black salve (which has less bloodroot in it) will get them all and I find there is a little less scarring with the black salve then the bloodroot.
I am telling people about the body wash for finding spots, which originally I was telling them to then put some salve on, but now I am finding it is less invasive to continue with the body wash for several months. This is why I find the body wash long term to be better if you are concerned about scarring. But, if you find after using the body wash daily for a couple of months, a spot that comes to the surface which is large or does not go away, you may want to apply black salve to it, as it is most likely a stronger cancer that does not want to be pulled through the entire body but would rather be easier to exit through the surface of the skin.
The body wash can be put on as a thin layer and left for up to 15 minutes before rinsing off, but I have usually used it for 5 minutes before rinsing off in the shower. Some eczema and psoriasis patients have reported leaving it on all day and getting good results when they also get all dairy and white flour/sugar out of their diets. It can be left on long term with no adverse effects. The source for the body wash that myself and friends and family use can be found at Best On Earth Products
